The SAAS ML19 is a faithful, optimized recreation of the Oktava ML19 cardioid ribbon microphone, developed with Cole Suddarth of Cole Picks Vintage. A longtime favorite at Russian Recording, its versatile sound returns with improved build quality, removable pop and blast filters, and a reliable stand mount. Expected late 2027, subject to change.

Our first microphone, the SAAS ML19, is a faithful, optimized recreation of the Oktava ML19 unidirectional ribbon microphone, the Soviet interpretation of the RCA BK5. Developed in partnership with Cole Suddarth of Cole Picks Vintage, it preserves the original ribbon motor and acoustic chamber designs and features a faithful recreation of the output transformer.
The ML19 was Mike Bridavsky’s first vintage Soviet microphone, purchased on a whim from eBay in 1998. It remains one of his favorite ribbon microphones of all time and sees use on almost every session at Russian Recording, on everything from lead vocals and string quartets to guitar amps, kick drums, and overheads.
Drawing on decades of studio experience and the restoration of well over fifty vintage ML19s, our version brings that sound and versatility to a new production model. Improved construction, removable pop and blast filters, and a sturdy, reliable stand mount give this exceptional microphone the build quality it has always deserved.
